subposting meta, my mh- RE: subpost, omarchy
i’m confused about social media. i tend to not really say things in the discussions because I don’t consider my post good to post there. but it can be good enough for the profile (perhaps even without posting it for public timelines, like it matters). it becomes then a subpost.
then sometimes it can be a bad post. because being wrong happens. or not putting in the effort to make the post’s intentions clear. (that could even be good enough reason to not post in the discussion)
idk if they ever had subposts figured out any better in the usenet era which probably was a better era of internet discussion (like maybe not getting a notification for every reply, so there was less pressure to subpost, and no “profile” to post from as a comfortable default)
here we both cw things as a subpost because subposts are culturally bad thing (or perhaps because it indicates “post detached from unspecified context!”) and almost everyone posts them because subposts can have various reasons
sometimes (very periodically) on fedi i post where i shouldnt have and get told off. i then put my face in the pillow and say to myself in my mind i need to stop any visible activity on fedi for as long as i can, and i do before memory wears out enough. i hate fedi
